Gecko Pest Control moved to in Marshall in 2008 and has enjoyed healthy growth, now with three trucks and service technicians.

Daren Horton, owner/operator of the business, is growing in the Marshall area by working as hard for his communities as he does his customers.

“Marshall has been very good for us. My wife, Becki, and I have never second guessed moving to Marshall because we have been so blessed,” said Horton, the managing partner in Gecko.

The magic of Caddo Lake was the magnet, after years of occasional visits, they finally were able to move here.

The Hortons sold a pest control business in Dallas in 2008, in preparation to moving to Caddo Lake.
“We took the river tour and loved to canoe, so we had started visiting Caddo Lake to canoe,” said Horton. “We knew we’d end up here, but when the opportunity to sell my business came, we got here so much sooner.”

Horton believes “Caddo Lake gets in your blood” and so they built their home on Cypress Village Island and even endured the 2009 flood while taking a boat to and from it for three weeks.
